Supercars are supposed to be the forbidden fruit, but the "basic" models from Lamborghini and Ferrari really aren't. You can just as easily spend $200,000 on a Porsche Cayenne Turbo S with pots of options. Heck, even a humble Boxster is capable of drilling a big hole in your bank account.

While it is their most successful model of all time, the Gallardo is not without its fair share of shortcomings, the biggest of which is the design. It's not ugly or understated, but compared to the Aventador's stealth fighter looks, the V10 model looks like a glorified Audi TT.

Things are a little better when you have a bright orange interior on a Gallardo Spyder, but even then it's not as modern looking as its rivals. The 2013 model year facelift for the LP560-4 is the swan song for the Gallardo, as its replacement should be ready next year.

Without a doubt, this will have a completely new design language, and rumor has it Lamborghini will drop in the most powerful V10 to date, a 600 hp motor that would shame race cars.
